Welcome to My Journey to Reverse Type 2 Diabetes. I will present this journey as part of a series. In this particular blog I will take a closer look at the symptoms of diabetes. It is my sincere desire that sharing my journey will inspire and encourage you to believe that diabetes is not necessarily a death sentence. Most importantly, we have to be willing to take charge of our health.

Day One - Facing Reality
Two hours after my last meal my blood glucose was elevated at 170. This was only a few short years ago when I was officially diagnosed a pre-diabetic. The reason for my hospitalization was actually due to a syncope episode (fainting spell). Now I was not only faced with syncope, but also diabetes. Looking back, it is easy to see how working nights for five years, and not resting more than four hours per day had placed an unhealthy stress on my body. In fact, sleep deprivation became “the norm” for me. Factor in my genetic disposition due to the fact that my dad had died from complications related to diabetes, along with a penchant for high carb foods, and it is easy to see how this had transpired… But how had I missed the symptoms? Why hadn’t I seen this coming?
Symptoms Diabetes is a stealth killer. It is is not usually obvious in the early stages, it had crept upon me and caught me completely by surprise. Looking back, I realize I was unwittingly contributing to my illness, instead of avoiding it. Like so many others, I was not educated about the symptoms, and therefore did not recognize the subtle warning signs. Maybe you are now as I was then: unaware of this growing menace.
Symptoms of diabetes may develop quite rapidly (weeks or months) in type 1, particularly in children. However in type 2, symptoms usually develop much more slowly and may be subtle or completely absent.
By sharing this blog, and the following list of early symptoms, maybe I can help you or someone you love to become aware of the danger they are in and either avoid, or reverse this chronic condition. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports the following:
- 24 million Americans have been diagnosed with diabetes. More that 90% are Type 2 diabetics.
- This translates to eight percent of the American population
- Fifty seven million are considered pre-diabetec.
- Diabetes has become one of the top five causes of death in the U.S.
Are you diabetic? The following early warning signs may offer you some clues. If you consider it to be even a remote possibility, you should consult your physician just to be sure. The earlier it is diagnosed, the easier it is to reverse. Some of the early diabetes symptoms include :

Diabetes symptoms
- Excessive Thirst
- Frequent Urination
- Fatigue
- Numbness &Tingling
- Blurred Vision
- Nerve Damage
- Unexplained Weight loss
- Yeast Infection
- Diabetic Rash
- Slow Healing Of Wounds
Wishing you good health.
Patrick

Hi Patrick! Great job. I think I needed this reminder as my doctor has hinted that I am a potential candidate but I haven’t taken him as seriously as I clearly need to do. Thanks for helping me an others to grow our awareness of this killer and just how it works!
Looking forward to Day 2 of the Journey.

Since being diagnosed I’ve been doing a great deal of researching. These blogs hopefully reflect the results of this research. It’s hard work for which I don’t get paid, but for me it’s a labor of love.
